2-Ingredient Dough Recipes between 1-5 WW Smart Points (1)

Yesterday I shared a recipe that used the super uber famous 2-ingredient dough. Today I want to share a list of more great recipes that also use that same special Weight Watchers friendly dough. I have found 20 recipes that I think you will love! But before we get to the recipes, let’s talk about this dough for a second.

In case if you missed it, 2-ingredient dough is a simple concept of mixing equal parts self-rising flour and non-fat Greek yogurt and then baking the dough.

Because non-fat Greek yogurt became zero points when Weight Watchers rolled out their new FreeStyle program in December 2017, the dough had everyone talking in January of this year. It became the perfect solution for people on the Weight Watchers program who loved bread but felt like they couldn’t eat it and stay within their points. Since January, this concept has gone viral.

So, for real, this dough actually made the news on more than one occasion. Even Food Network and Cooking Light were talking about this dough! Everyone was talking about it.

The first time I heard of the dough was on a Facebook group. Every day for about a month there was someone getting on the Facebook group asking for the recipe. After about the 20th request for the link to the recipe on the group I finally decided to give it a try.

I made 2-ingredient dough bagels because it seemed easiest. I liked it, but my husband was not impressed. I should mention here that, generally speaking, I am a fan of bagels and he is not, so this should not come as a surprise to anyone.

Having said that, I know that some people simply aren’t a fan of eating 2-ingredient dough because of the sour taste from the Greek yogurt that still comes through. This was the case with my friend…

The other day a friend of mine who had recently joined Weight Watchers asked me if I tried many recipes that used the 2-ingredient dough. She wasn’t a huge fan of the bagels but was curious if there was something else out there that she should try. The truth was I had only tried a couple recipes that used the dough, but it just happened to be in my plans to make the “Twirly Italian Sub Breadsticks” that used the 2-ingredient dough that same week that she asked. (I love when that happens)

After making the recipe, I got curious and started a hunt to find what other recipes were out there. I wanted to create a space on the blog that answers my friend’s question, “What good Weight Watchers recipes are out there that use the 2-ingredient dough?” Because the dough is super uber famous now it can be tricky finding the places online that share the Smart Points with their recipes.

Over the past several months I have seen lots of variations of the classic 2-ingredient dough on Pinterest. Some of these recipes might surprise you! 2-Ingredient dough Pop Tarts and funnel cakes? Who knew?! Skim through this list and see if there isn’t one you might want to try this week!

FAQs

Is 2 Ingredient dough healthier? ›

Two-ingredient dough is packed with protein thanks to the yogurt, and is free of the preservatives and artificial ingredients found in many prebaked crusts and prepared doughs.

Can you refrigerate 2 ingredient dough? ›

Yes, you can make the dough ahead and refrigerate it in an airtight container for up to 2 days.

Why is my 2 ingredient dough so sticky? ›

Your dough can become sticky when you add too much water or the flour isn't suitable for the type of dough you are making.

What happens when you add yogurt to flour? ›

The result is a delicious bread you will have trouble controlling yourself around. The texture is soft and fluffy and the taste is slightly sweet but kind of salty.

What is the healthiest dough? ›

Whole wheat crust is best because it contains fiber that is more filling and will satisfy you sooner (think 2-3 slices rather than 5-6). If you have time and patience you can make whole wheat dough from scratch but I get terribly frustrated when trying to roll and stretch it out as it always ends up a mess!

Which dough is healthier? ›

Wholegrain flours like wholewheat, rye or oatmeal add flavour, texture and fibre so are healthy choices.

How long can you keep two ingredient dough in the fridge? ›

Make ahead: Tightly wrap the dough with plastic wrap. You can also cut it up into portions and wrap them up individually. The dough will last 3 days refrigerated or 1 month frozen.

What happens if you don't put dough in the fridge? ›

Your dough will rise in the fridge and it can be a huge help as it makes bread making easy to fit into your day. When you put your dough in the fridge it slows the yeast activity down. It takes ten times longer for dough to rise in the fridge than it does at room temperature.

What happens if you don't refrigerate dough before baking? ›

Popping your dough in the fridge allows the fats to cool. As a result, the cookies will expand more slowly, holding onto their texture. If you skip the chilling step, you're more likely to wind up with flat, sad disks instead of lovely, chewy cookies. Cookies made from chilled dough are also much more flavorful.

What is a substitute for self-rising flour? ›

It's easy to make a self-rising flour substitute at home. Here's our Test Kitchen's simple method to make self-rising flour: For every cup of self-rising flour, substitute one cup of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, ½ teaspoon salt, and ¼ teaspoon baking soda.

Why is my sourdough so runny to shape? ›

When the bulk fermentation goes too long — often when the dough more than doubles or triples in volume — the dough can over ferment. You know the dough has over fermented if, when you turn it out to shape it, it is very slack — if it's like a wet puddle — and very sticky and lacking any strength and elasticity.

What does adding milk to flour do? ›

In the dough stage, milk increases water absorption. Consequently, dough made with milk should come softer from the mixer than dough made with water.

Why does Greek yogurt work in dough? ›

With just self-rising flour and plain Greek yogurt, you can make almost any bread-based creation you can think of. Thick, Greek-style yogurt gives the dough its moisture and tenderness, while the leavening agents in the flour allow the dough to rise without yeast.

Should I add sugar when making yogurt? ›

If sweeteners are needed, we like to add them after the yogurt is set and chilled. We prefer not to add sugar before culturing to avoid feeding any undesirable bacteria. The beneficial lactic-acid producing flora are naturally well-equipped to feed on lactose, while other less desirable bacteria are not.

What is the healthiest dough for pizza? ›

Both the cauliflower crust and the whole-wheat crust offer fiber and protein, which play a key role in weight loss by helping to keep you feeling full and satisfied after a meal. But if you're not trying to cut carbs and are looking for that traditional pizza pie flavor, the whole-wheat crust is what you want.

Is homemade dough healthier? ›

That said, most homemade breads are likely healthier than store-bought breads, which are often high in sugar and preservatives. One benefit of making your own bread is that you can control the ingredients. For example, you can use whole wheat flour instead of white flour, or add healthy toppings like nuts and seeds.

Is dough conditioner healthy? ›

We can talk about the horrible dough conditioners with long names such as Bromide (Potassium Bromate), which messes with the thyroid's ability to produce and use iodine, and is also said to cause many different kinds of cancers specifically in the kidneys and thyroid, cause DNA damage and have harmful effects on ...
