2023's Most Exciting Watch Releases: Tissot, Swatch, Vacheron Constantin & More! (2025)

This has been a fairly quiet week regarding the number of watches launched on the market, but just as important as it has been quiet regarding the quality and significance of the launches. Both Tissot and Swatch take us back to the core of the 1980s and 1990s, but the star of the past seven days has to be Vacheron Constantin. To continue its 270th-anniversarycelebrations, it closed down the Louvre and presented an astonishingly complicated astronomical clock (I strongly recommend you read about it here). Tissot RockWatch

• Tissot brings back the RockWatch from the 80s with subtle differences, but maintains the original spirit.
• The 38mm case is crafted from – guess what – stone, to be precise, from the Jungfrau mountain, and is pebble-shaped to hint at the origin of the material.
• This granite watch is a limited edition of 999 pieces, and it’s sold on a black leather strap with a pin buckle.

Swatch NEON

• What screams 90s more than a bright coloured Swatch? This Neon collection update brings us back in time.
• Six new watches are unveiled, and they all share the same brave and colourful spirit that made Swatch great.
• They are available either in 42 or 34mm cases, and you can choose between time only, chronograph or calendar complications.

Vacheron Constantin Tribute to The Quest of Time

• Vacheron Constantin celebrates its 270^th anniversary with a proper celebration and unveils a monumental astronomical clock with an automaton that reads the time.
• Inspired by that, they also presented at the same time a white gold watch with a double retrograde movement with a similar automaton as the clock.
• The watch is a 20-piece limited edition that brings together a brand-new movement with exceptional craftsmanship.

Sartory Billard SB04‑E Small Bang

• We’re used to seeing eye-catching, imaginative dials from Sartory Billard, but their latest piece, the 20-piece limited edition SB04-E Small Bang, shows off a technique rarely seen in watchmaking: raden.
• This Japanese craft is the art of slicing mother-of-pearl into thin layers, cutting them by hand, and embedding them into still-wet lacquer, with the nature of the technique meaning each execution is totally unique.
• The result is a three-dimensional dial that resembles a multicoloured supernova radiating out from the central pinion.

Norqain Freedom 60 43mm Off-White

• Following the success of the Freedom 60 Chrono 40mm Enjoy Life, Norqain releases a slightly bigger, panda dial chronograph.
• The 43mm stainless steel watch features a cream dial with black rehaut and subdials, completing the package with gold-plated indices and hands.
• This 300-piece limited edition is available with three strap solutions: stainless steel, black perlon or brown Alacantara.

Trilobe Trente-Deux

• Trilobe unveils its first-ever integrated bracelet watch, which also debuts its first in-house movement.
• The brand’s sportiest watch yet, it’s named after the address of its Parisian workshop and marks the first creation to come out of the brand’s newly opened manufacture just outside of Paris.
• Trilobe’s signature digital displays remain, with both a blue and grey dial variant available.

IWC Schaffhausen Automatic Moon Phase

• IWC unveils the latest addition to the Portofino collection, adding a moonphase complication on the 18k 5N gold model.
• The 40 x 11.1mm case frames the silver-plated dial with the moon at 12 o’clock.
• It is powered by the calibre 35800 with 50 hours of power reserve beating at 4 Hertz.
• Price: €20,900.

Bell & Ross BR-X3

• Bell & Ross expands its flight instrument collection with two titanium-cased models, following the recent BR-03 Skeleton.
• The 41mm square grade 2 titanium case houses the BR-Cal. 323 made in collaboration with Kenissi.
• Available on a colour-matched rubber strap, it’s possible to choose between a blue or a black variant.
• Price: €7,400.

Awake Son Mai – Silver Leaf

• French favourite Awake brings back the Son Mai Silver Leaf after selling out last year, and adds five new colours.
• Like the previous edition, it combines sanded Vietnamese lacquer with pure silver leaf.
• While four versions are now part of the regular collection, there is a 100-piece limited edition with a vignette orange dial.
• Price: €2,000.

Nivada Grenchen Antarctic GMT Hodinkee Limited Edition

• Hodinkee’s first limited edition since its acquisition by Watches of Switzerland is an understated, extremely considered retro tool watch.
• It’s modelled after a rare 1960s Antarctic GMT, the ref. 87013, that surfaced through the Hodinkee Shop.
• It combines mid-century proportions with oodles of modern lume and compressor-style GMT functionality.
• Price: US$1,740.
