In today’s fast-paced world, confidence is more than just a trait; it’s a currency that can help you navigate social interactions, professional environments, and personal challenges with grace and success. However, developing confidence involves taking small steps that result in a long-term sense of accomplishment. Not understanding the “rules” of the confidence game can lead to a lack of self-assurance. We set ourselves up for failure if we believe we need to feel confident to act confidently. Another type of flawed thinking that contributes to low self-confidence is perfectionism. If we think we need to have everything sorted out before taking action, these beliefs can prevent us from achieving the things we love.

The Benefits of Improving Confidence

  • Fear and anxiety are reduced.
  • More Resilience as a Result of Higher Motivation
  • Better relationships
  • You’ll better understand who you are if you have a more substantial feeling.

Strategy 1: Stop worrying about what people think about you

You can’t go by what others say about you; you must know for yourself. God is well aware of His majesty and might. He is the absolute God, the pinnacle of perfection, and He doesn’t need us to tell Him that. He is the beginning and the end, the beginning and the end. People may comment about or identify you based on your circ*mstances, but your true identity is found in God. Stop asking folks who aren’t in control of their emotions to help you with your life or a problem.

When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?”They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”“But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Matthew 16:13-16 NLT

Concentrate on the question, “Who do people think I am?”

God was not asking because He didn’t know who He was, neither did He need them to justify it.

  • God was curious as to where their hearts were at.
  • Where did their faith come from?
  • Peter was releasing faith in his heart with His mouth.

Examine yourself in the mirror and ask yourself, “Who am I?”

Strategy 2: Empowering Others

Helping others realize their potential can significantly boost your own confidence. Whether it’s mentoring a colleague, supporting a friend’s project, or volunteering your skills, seeing the positive impact you can have in someone’s life reinforces your self-worth and abilities.

Strategy 3: Active Listening

Active listening is a powerful tool in building strong relationships. By genuinely engaging with others and giving them your full attention, you not only make them feel valued but also gain insights and perspectives that can boost your confidence in social situations.

Strategy 4: Forgiveness

Let go of the situation, experience God’s faithfulness, and cease giving people your authority. Things happen in life that make us feel vulnerable and unsure, and this is a part of developing confidence. It will pursue you until you decide to forgive. Forgiveness is a healing secret weapon; when you forgive, you accomplish something spiritually that you can’t see.

If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just [true to His nature and promises]. He will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness [our wrongdoing, everything not conforming with His will and purpose].1 John 1:9 AMP

Strategy 5: Take pride in your accomplishments.

Allow yourself to savor the moment. Pay attention to the minor details. Appreciate the factors that contributed to your success. It’s all too easy to overlook the importance of celebrating. This is something I’m all too familiar with. I’m pleased with the result but eager to move on to the next task. For example, when I wrote my book, I was grateful for the opportunity and enthusiastic for the next one. It’s not incorrect to desire to achieve another objective. Still, if we don’t take a break and reflect, we’ll find ourselves in the attitude of doing rather than fulfilling the destiny that was created to keep us.

Strategy 6: Read Bible verses that line up confidence and self-worth

For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. Phil 4:13 NLT

  • Read and memorize life verses that will help you when you’re going through tough times.
  • Learn to confess Bible scriptures when you pray.

Sample Prayer Below:

Lord, thank you for not giving me the spirit of fear but power, love, and a balanced mind. I am enthroned under the shadow of Shaddai, and I will not fear it because I am hidden in the strength of the Most High God.

For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. Romans 8:15

When you sit enthroned under the shadow of Shaddai, you are hidden in the strength of God.

Strategy 7: Keep a journal and write down ideas, quotes, and anything uplifting.

  • When you’re having a bad day, go back and read what God has said to you or the promises and thoughts you’ve written down; it’ll help you feel better.
  • It has the potential to become a professional confession book.

Strategy 8: Take up a hobby or learn something new.

Draw/ create something that will bless other people. Look at your hands and tell yourself, “My hands are blessed.

Strategy 9: Surround yourself with positive people.

Surround yourself with people who are concerned about your well-being. Instead of telling you what you want to hear, a helpful person will provide you with honest advice and assist you in solving your problem.

Strategy 10: Remember you are blessed (Repeat this daily)

  • I am walking in God’s goodness
  • I am walking in God’s favor
  • I am walking in God’s anointing
  • I am walking in God’s power
  • I am walking in miracles
  • I will proclaim the majestic name of Jesus
  • Implementing These Strategies into Your Daily Life

Incorporating these strategies into your life may require some practice and patience. Start small, perhaps by focusing on one strategy at a time, and gradually build your way up. Remember, the goal is not just to improve your confidence but to do so in a way that enriches the lives of those around you.

By adopting these unselfish strategies, you’re not just working on becoming more confident; you’re also becoming a more connected, empathetic, and empowered individual. The journey towards self-improvement is ongoing, and every step taken is a step towards a more confident and fulfilling life.
