Gas Monkey Garage's Ferrari 6x6 Build: Scandal, Delays, and Creative Clashes (2025)

Prepare for a wild ride as we dive into the explosive drama surrounding a controversial car build that's got the automotive world buzzing!

The Six-Wheeled Ferrari Testarossa: A Tale of Chaos and Controversy

In a world where iconic Italian supercars are revered, a peculiar six-wheeled Ferrari Testarossa emerged, leaving everyone scratching their heads. This bizarre creation, which first appeared over a year ago, has now resurfaced with a bang, bringing with it a trail of drama, delays, and creative clashes.

The Story Unveiled

It all started with a unique collaboration between Danton Art Kustoms and Frechy Export LLC, who crafted a six-wheeled AM General Humvee powered by a Dodge Hellcat Hemi V8. This custom creation was sold to Richard Rawlings and his company, Gas Monkey Garage, for a whopping $750,000 at Barrett-Jackson. The deal was sweet, with the promise of further collaboration on an even more ambitious project: a six-wheeled Ferrari Testarossa.

The Drama Unfolds

Fast forward a few weeks, and an Instagram post featuring Rawlings and the Ferrari sparked a fiery controversy. Alex Danton, in the comments section, accused Rawlings and Gas Monkey Garage of stealing credit and underpaying for his work. He claimed that Rawlings used his fiscal power to silence him, leaving Danton feeling crushed.

Rawlings, however, paints a different picture. He asserts that the Ferrari required extensive rework, falling short of expectations in fabrication, paint, and fitment. According to him, the team had to revisit almost every aspect of the build, and even now, it's still far from complete.

A Work in Progress?

Despite Rawlings' team being closer than ever to finishing the car, he admits that it's only "sort of okay" in its current state. He anticipates a "shit ton of work" to get it to their desired level, indicating that this project is far from over.

Danton, on the other hand, seems to have given up on the car, responding to a query about its current state with a simple "destroy."

A Troubled Build

In hindsight, it's evident that this build was troubled from the start. Even when we covered the car's move to the GMG location in September, progress seemed slow, and now, with Rawlings' insights, it's clear that this abomination might be better off left unfinished.

So, what's your take on this dramatic car build? Is it a bold experiment or a misguided attempt? We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments! This story has all the ingredients for a heated debate, so let's get the discussion rolling!
