Iceland has announced the closure of a store in June, just weeks after it shut down its branch in Welling. The supermarket giant said its store in College Square, Margate, will stop serving customers this summer.

Staff has been told the last day of trading will be June 21, KentOnline reports. A spokesperson for Iceland said: "We can confirm our Margate Iceland store will close. Our store colleagues have entered into a consultation process and have been offered opportunities at surrounding stores where possible."

The latest announcement from Iceland, which boasts more than 900 branches across the country, comes amid the closure of several stores in the UK, prompting more concerns for the British High Street.

Sports Direct is shutting down one of its branches on April 18, the Newmarket Road store in Cambridge.

Margate is to be hit by another closure, with The Works saying earlier this week its local branch would shut down on June 8.
