PGA Tour Star Stays Put, Debunks LIV Rumors
With the new LIV Golf season just around the corner, the buzz around potential recruits has been intense. But here's a twist: one big-name PGA Tour player, Min Woo Lee, has put an end to all the speculation. In a recent interview, Lee made it clear he's not jumping ship to LIV, despite some juicy rumors.
"I'm happy where I am," Lee told AAP. "I'm sticking with the PGA Tour."
Lee, an Aussie, plans to compete in his homeland later this month at the Australian PGA and Australian Open. He's aiming to stay in the top 50 worldwide (currently at 46th) to secure his spot at next year's Masters. "I never want to miss a major, especially the Masters," he said. "It's one of the biggest tournaments, so I'll do whatever it takes to get in."
And this is the part most people miss: Lee's win at the Houston Open earlier this year was his first PGA Tour title. A true testament to his commitment and talent!
Tiger Woods' Secret Gesture
Tiger Woods' former caddie, Steve Williams, recently revealed a surprising aspect of his time with the 15-time major champion. In an interview on the Tee It Up podcast, Williams shared how Tiger's post-round courtesy set him apart from other players.
"After every round, good or bad, Tiger would thank me for my help. It was remarkable," Williams said. "A lot of players don't want to see you or talk after a bad day. But Tiger was different."
Williams caddied for Tiger from 1999 to 2011, winning 13 majors together. A true testament to the power of gratitude and respect!
LIV vs. Rory: The Backlash
Rory McIlroy's recent comments about LIV Golf's format change from 54 to 72 holes sparked a lot of debate. Speaking ahead of the Abu Dhabi Championship, Rory called the move "peculiar."
But Lee Westwood, appearing on the TalkSport Breakfast Show, had a different take. "I don't pay too much attention to what Rory says. He'll change his mind next week," Westwood quipped.
Westwood believes the format change is good for players, sponsors, and fans. "It gives fans an extra day of golf. And I think world ranking points were a factor too," he added.
The LIV Golf season kicks off in Riyadh next February. Will the format change attract more players? Only time will tell!
Golf Legend's Arrogant Move
Brandel Chamblee, in his latest podcast episode, shared a story about golf legend Raymond Floyd that left him in awe. Floyd, a four-time major winner, had a reputation for being a fierce competitor and not the warmest playing partner.
Chamblee recalled a time when he and Mark Brooks were playing at the Honda Classic. Floyd, without asking, hit a ball over their heads while they were walking off the tee box. He then proceeded to play his shot, putted out, and walked to the next tee without acknowledging them.
"He didn't look at us, didn't say anything. It was the most awesomely arrogant thing I've ever seen," Chamblee said.
A true display of Floyd's intense focus and competitive spirit!
